Who, What, and Where
C. Robin Buell joined the Department of Plant Biology at Michigan State University in October 2007 after spending nine years at The Institute for Genomic Research. Research in the Buell laboratory is focused on high throughput sequencing, functional genomics, comparative genomics, and bioinformatics of plants and plant pathogens. More information on on-going research projects can be found on our Research page. We are always interested in having new students (undergraduate and graduate) join the lab. You can check out our Contact page to get in touch with us. If you want to send us something or stop by, we can be reached via: Department of Plant Biology Michigan State University 166 Plant Biology Lab Bldg. Research Interests
The research activities in the Buell Laboratory are centered on genomic aspects of plant biology and plant pathogens. Our research primarily involves projects focused on high throughput sequencing, functional genomics, comparative genomics, and bioinformatics. We work on model species including rice as well as crop species such as potato. A number of our projects are focused on generating large scale databases and resources for the scientific community such as the Rice Annotation Database, the Comprehensive Phytopathogen Genome Resource, and the Solancaeae Comparative Genomics Resource. You can read more about our Rice, Solanaceae, and Plant Pathogen bioinformatics and genomics work.
